Thats a good analysis. As you noted EB-2 India got only 14K visas as opposed to other predictions of 30-32K visas. I have long said that the variable here is how EB1 and EB-2 ROW demand numbers. A lot of folks assumed that all the spill over will end up in the EB-2 I/C lap. It does not as long as there is no retrogression across the entire EB-2 category severely, making the old PD golden (this is not going to happen) or there is very less demand for EB1 and EB2-ROW numbers.
While I agree with your analysis, I feel that the number of employers/applicants filing for Labor/140/485 has started a downward spiral in 2008. This means lesser demand for EB1 and EB-2 ROW numbers making the numbers available to EB-2 I & C. Again, it is very well possible that there are just enough number of people from both Eb1 & EB-2 ROW categories left & entering in the system to deny the numbers to EB-2 I & C. Unless the state of the economy continues like this, shedding 600K jobs in one month, equal to number jobs in the state of Maine, we can't say that EB-2 I & C can become close to current or leap into 2007 and beyond. Then we might be current and have a GC but the economic situation would be so worse that people don't care for GC. God Forbid we have to see that and lets hope and pray that the Stimulus will resuscitate the economy

You are absolutely right. I participated in IV's advocacy effort in Washington last year. But I regret that I could not do the same this year.
No IV provision is in the bill.
For something to happen, each member needs to do their part by supporting this effort and taking part in action items. With so little support and initiative we cannot expect to match the kind of hard work DREAM act advocates have done.
If we need an amendment, we should be showing up for advocacy day or signing up for monthly contributions, volunteer our time, or doing any state chapter work by meeting local lawmaker offices regularly in groups. Dream Act folks have built a very strong network and advocacy effort that no politician can ignore. Go through the list of things they have been doing over the past few years and you can judge how much percentage we have as a community matched that effort. This is a reality and and ultimately it will be us that are responsible for no bill being passed in the last few years.
The community needs to do more than wasting time on the forums and trackers if they really want any bill to happen.

Lou Dobbs is being attacked all the time by all kinds of people, including big organizations (La Raza, etc.). He brings in ratings, so I'm sure they have a thick skin about him over at CNN. If you're seriously considering a campaign, I would try talking to a reporter friend about 1. whether you should do it (I think it would be counterproductive); and 2. if you decide to do it anyway, how to go about it.
Having signs at the San Jose rally about Dobbs will hurt, not help. Keeping clear the distinction between legal and illegal immigration is key to any political effort, imho. Almost everyone is for legal immigration, but a majority of Americans are very concerned about illegal immigration. You start making this about illegal immigration, even implicitly, and sympathy will dry up quickly. And when you mention the word "Dobbs," the first thing that comes into the mind of the average American is "illegal immigration."

yes I have, I have been a contributing member from Apr 2006 when there just a handful of members. I have so far contributed 450 dollars in regular intervals of 100, 50. We also took up the talk to senator campaign in our state and met our 13 district congressman and senators from WA and explained IV's position. I have also provided input to IV core on how to contact them in DC. My wife regularly posts IV messages in orkut where she is an active member. I used to put my contribution in my signature until I read a post where people were complaining on putting up the signature. I plan to use my miles for me and my wife to go to DC if I get my time off approved. I had planned to go on 13th. I have gotten 10 contributing members to join IV so far. If you still have doubts on my IV contributions, let me know and I will be more than happy to do a public disclosure on my funds contributed!

You and I have identical PDs.
Maybe you should get all that have similar PDs as you to do some campaign on IV. Tracking will not get a GC any faster. I believe time can be better spent by doing something together.

Sure, they can. There was nothing in the law forbidding them from doing that and they abused the system badly which has resulted in a permanent ban on substitution.
You cannot do anything about them using the Labor for someone else. Perhaps you can do something about them taking money from you to file 485 and failing to do that. If you can prove this with a clear paper trail, then you stand a good chance on this one.

Your need to also wish that legal immigration issue is included in the bill as senators might CIR at the expense of the legal immig issue......you do not provide them the votes they need

What I know about America that if you don't have money, hospitals are supposed to take care, if you have money, hospital will squeeze every penny.
Once I spent over a month trying to find solution: Could not get: for a female it seems to be mandatory having maternity insurance otherwise, after pregnancy, no one insures.

Right now for all bills that Zoe proposed there are max 19 co sponser for this last bill. DID you check for STRIVE ACT 2007 which had 78 co-sponsers still could not make it to floor.
We need to call these lawmakers and educated them on these bills.
Chances are less but our investment is not that big. Few minutes in a day to call or write.
