I have the exact question with duttasurajit -- my title for green card is computer information system manager, and I'd like to take a job for technical lead / architect. The job duties are very similar. Will that cause a problem?
btw: I don't know why so many people apply under the title of 'computer information system manager'. If you search Dice.com, hardly any position come out with this title.

I was under the impression that the job title does not matter for AC21 as long as the job duties are similar. For example, instead of IT Manager, say, I get a title of Developement Lead/Team Lead and the Job duties are similar.

Krishnam70, they require police certificates for any country where you lived in the last 10 (not 5!) years. Also, fingerprints must be sent to FBI to get "certified", and that can take 10-12 weeks nowadays.
NEVER bother the consulate with questions regarding your application status. Give it at least a year since they accept your documents. If you can't wait for so long, google "CAIPS notes" and use this process to get info about your application. However, if you have specific questions regarding your application/situation, the consulate will respond within 1-2 business days. Just make sure to include your file number (you'll be provided with it upon acceptance of your documents) at the top of each email message or response. I notified the consulate about my FBI fingerprints delay and asked some questions specific to my case. When I reviewed my CAIPS notes, I found out that they keep track of all communication, including email.

There is NOTHING in INA that says that a person on H-1B visa or status can't attend college and the memo states that as long as attendance to college is "incidental" to the H-1B, not a problem. As such, if a person Maintains H-1B employment, and all the H-1B requirements continue to exist, one can attend college part of full time. In fact, some colleges offer in-state tuition for H-1B applicants. Changing to F-1 is impossible because of immigrant intent showed by GC petition pending for this person.
Brooklyn college is one that offers in-state tuition for H-1s and does not require change in status at all.

I was thinking that 'Parolee' seems to be the logical choice but I also think that one has to re-enter using advance parole to be called a 'Parolee' exactly what shreekhand said. I would say you're an 'Adjustee' but it's not in the choices so I suggest doing the paper-based application. Good luck!
In legal parlance it is referred to as "period of stay as authorized by the Attorney General".

Venue: Diwali Mela, San Diego.
Date: Saturday, November 10th.
Target: A whopping 5000 visitors for recruitment and educational purposes.
I am looking for at least 4 So Cal volunteers/shift to take responsibility for 2 hour shifts at the booth. If San Diego/Orange County/LA members take turns in the booth shifts that day, this goal is achievable!

To make things worse, this whole drama of EB2 current in August will screw me all the more, as she will get 1 yr EAD and then i have to go through this whole nightmare one more time next yr.
For me, it's been almost 3 months now...and they tell me the case is within processing dates published on their website. I've seen people who applied almost 1.5 months later than me get their approvals....
Same situation happened to me - My status shows as card production ordered while hers have no update.
The sad part is that I m continuing on H1 while she is working on her EAD and needs it approved soon

No offense to anyone but I think this is how the market is flooded sometimes with short term trained and oppurtunisticly timing decisions made by people.
Before you change careers I think you ought to see whether it really fits ur goals and aspirations..my 2 cents... CHances are you may not even like that job and want ot get trained in something else...I dont make a boat load of money but I like my job so far...however if money is the sole (please dont confuse this with means of living) reason to get into any job there are so many jobs and fields one can explore and change often...Its all your personal choice...
Good point. I am just studying the trade off between "career" and "likability" of job or the job you love. I agree with you about money. I am not just for money or I do not want to be in rat race. (If money is the only goal we all can do real estate bussiness in India) After spending 10 years in engineering, I want to change the field. Even I am ready to go with little less than what I make now. . The main reason is I want to have just relaxing job, not much stress. At the same time it should be a longterm. I thought QA may be one of the field. I do not know yet it is a right thought.

I want to alert you to a bad experience with UPS over an international shipment and suggest you ship Fedex or DHL especially if shipping time-sensitive immigration docs. If you have any further questions pls PM me.
I mailed a 'guaranteed delivery' package containing immigration docs to Mumbai from Tucson, AZ. I wanted this package to reach at a particular date because of a time-sensitive processing required on part of my family in India. It was mailed through a UPS store in Tucson.
The problems:
1. The package was delayed by 2 business days, screwing me and my family - cancelled airplane tickets, missed appointments, cascading delay for further processing.
2. I am having trouble getting a refund even though I am eligible for it. The UPS store refuses to issue a refund saying that "there is no guaranteed international shipment' ever. This is after the fact that UPS shipping confirms that I am eligible for a refund, but it has to be processed through the store. So, basically, I am caught between the UPS store and UPS shipping.
Lesson learned:
1. Dont ship UPS
2. Even if you ship UPS, dont ship it through a UPS Store
Based on my discussions in the recent couple of days, Fedex may be a better option. In fact I FEDEX'ed duplicate copies of the paperwork 3 business days later and they were delivered on the same day as the UPS package!!! Never tried DHL so cant say anything.

Since I don't shoot in raw format, I have never processed RAW before in photoshop, so I had to first download the most recent version of the raw plug-in.... and what fun!
