H1B + GC holders pay SS + Medicare (??) for which they are entitled only when they become citizen (this is questionable).
anyone (*fine print - from a list of countries) who has paid SS for 10 years or more, and was legally in the US, is entitled to SS benefits, like a US citizen.
these laws can change. but then so can anything else.

Today I got a call from an officer in "immigration and customs enforcement" asking for an appointment to visit my residence for checing my immigration status.
I am on H1B visa.
I would appreciate if someone could give any sort of information related to calling for a home visit.

For AP renewal, do I need to send photos by mail again? I thought USCIS uses the picture on file. Folks please correct me if I am wrong. Could some one PM me the letter format?

Recently I had a very bad experience with CGI Houston. The CGI Houston is one of the horrible consulate that any one can imagine. I applied PIO card for my new born. I forgot to send the birth certificate with the application. They rejected the application and sent all my documents to my friends home address who was also applied PIO card for his child. Surprisingly he got one more guy�s (he is from another state) PIO card application and documents in the same package. I was lucky enough that it reached my friends hand. Otherwise I could not imagine what would have happened to my application and also the Certified Check.
I don�t know the consulate want to save courier money or they are irresponsible?

I got hold of IO this morning using POJ method. She said, my case has been assigned to IO.

Even as it stands RIGHT NOW without the "New AC21 Rules", you cannot use AC21 unless your I-140 is approved. The basic principle of AC21 is "If your I-140 is APPROVED AND your I-485 application has been pending for more than 180 days" you can switch jobs and not lose anything.

I think whey you try to send fax, it says how many faxes are sent so far. After that no info. If anybody is sending the fax, can you just update how many #10 and #11 were sent.

I am a physician MD currently doing IM residency on H1B. i have a job to start from oct 2007. since PDS for india are now current, i would like to know if my employer can file PERM for a prospective employee now in june. my univerdity lawyer is not clear or rather not willing to file.

What has this rally given us?
Well, I can tell you that whoever flew in/ drove in/ walked 4 miles between noon and 2:30pm is convinced of the need for an organized and peaceful battle against the unfair and broken green card process. The 1000 souls that showed up on that day, besides those who pitched in any way to help them, will find sending webfaxes and meeting their lawmakers (locally) to be a piece of cake. Once that happens, things can only get better for us as a community!

I understand the informational part of your post, but i don't understand the bad news part of it. How does getting a 2yr EAD change your I-485 processing? It will get processed whenever it supposed to be processed next.
There are ppl like me - EAD is pending for over 3.5 months and there's no decision. Be content with the fact that yours was approved in time and it's icing on cake that it's 2 yrs validity. the way i see it, it's all good news. Point me to the bad news please.

Well, good news because i don't have to worry about renewing it for another 18 months, bad news because does it mean my 485 is nowhere near processing.
Either way im not fretting about it, when its my turn i will get it. It was just a statement.
