The kids from the second marriage can definitely come. He can call the first wife get her the green card, then divorce her and go and marry the second wife and bring her here.
once he gets his GC (until he becomes a citizen) getting the 2nd wife over iis going to take too long, as its in FB quota, not EB. Thats one reason why many unmarried folks did not file their I-485 in July/August. If their 485 is approved before their marriage, then bringing the spouse over is real tough.

But not because they are 'Indian' but because they are run by sarkari babus. If anyone wants proof Govt. can't run things even remotely as efficiently as private corporations, this is that case study.
Have to give American consulates in India the credit that they have outsourced some job to external private companies.
At Indian consulate the story is quite different. There are many who share Pooja's feeling on this subject as being used to dealing with efficient private businesses in US, as soon as you enter the consulate, the sarkari inefficiency hits you like a ton of bricks. Every small screwup looks like a giant under our microscope and each further screwup just frustrates us exponentially.
As per my last visit to SF consulate, bracing for the worst, I got a surprise to find that it was a breeze, mostly because the lady at the counter was more compassionate and accommodating then the prior ones. But the failure is glaringly at the top level where they fail to define and refine the process, proof-read the information on website (list of document is vague and contains repetitions).
To summarize I think good workers can deliver some time, but the team will ultimately be a failure without good management at the top, and we all know the top management is sarkari babus who could care less as they were appointed from the sifarish of the Govt in New Delhi and not on their own merit.

Dear friends, why do you seek to start bashing your country at the first opportunity you get. THere are people in the Indian Govt who are negotiating on your behalf to make sur you get your money back.
THen on the question of paying bribes to get money out of PPF - something is better than nothing. Why complain. If it is so bad, go back and fight to fix the system, otherwise stop maoning. India is the only country that will welcome you if you are kicked out of here. I remember i used to pay 50 INR per ticket for a railway seat, now i go online and book a ticket. Things change they take time and patience.
Only those people who have NEVER bribed anyone to get stuff done illegally, or out of turn should speak. And i know there is no one, since you are in US and came on a passport and we all know how passports are obtained.
You left india, want to stay away, so leave it alone. When you are kicked out of everywhere, the doors will still be open, just keep some cash for the gatekeeper.
Lets discuss whether this swap will be possible or not, or what the loopholes are.

As I have already accepted that my decision of choosing CP was not right during the time of recession. When dates became current, I thought mine will be current in a month or so and CP is a faster process to get green card as 485 filers some time stuck in name chack and all ( as I know couple of friends). So that was the only reason I filed Cp instead of 485.

In other discussions it is mentioned that if I-485 is pending & you are applying for renewal you don't need this letter.
BTW, i just read this in the I-131 instructions, so if i hold a valid AP now and apply for renewal and go to India and enter back using the existing AP, does it mean my pending I-131 renewal will be abondoned? :confused:

And this willwin guy has the nerve to give me a red mark on my post saying I'm not being diplomatic... like I care about being diplomatic when they want IV to shift its primary focus in order to cater to such ridiculous asks!! NY never picks up call (passport, pio & receptions) or replies to mail.
Wait times in person are horrible - 5-6 hours. only 1 person to serve all the people for passports, pio /oci cards etc.
Their turnaround time is pretty good.
I prefer to deal with via postal even though it is walkable distance from my work.

Hello All,
I suggested this in my last two posts and I am suggesting this again. Emails , faxes to Rep will not create visibility of the problem. What we need to do is, do something big, like a DC rally again. One of the benefits behind doing this will be, everyone in this country i has their eyes on DC for presidential elections. Hence more visibility for us.
Secondly the topic of these three bills is hot, if we don't do anything now, it will turn cold, and then will be forgotten.
What we really need is a huge volume of high skilled workers in DC, not just a handful. Please let us all get together in DC again and push for these bills. We will get a lot of visibility. How about sending flowers to congress members?
Please let us all act on it!!

Hello,
My application was sent on July20th to NSC.
Today I got a transfer notice saying application is transferred to Texas Service center. question
1. The Receipt number starts with WAC (CSC) but the notice tells it is under Texas service center. Where exactly is the application.
2. Is the Transfer notice same as application receipt or I will get a separate application receipt ? I do not see any received date column on the transfer notice.
3. What is the number starting with A on the transfer notice. Different numbers for me and my wife ?

The number starting with A is the Alien registration Number. Should be same as approved I 140.

What you say sounds very selfish and narrow-minded.
When I made my first contribution to IV, I was stuck in BEC-hole and clearing out BEC was my top priority but not the top priority issue IVs list. I still believed in the big common goal and believed in the IV team.
You say that you don't see any benefit from IV's goals and so you wont contribute. IV's top priority is to bring relief through legislative solutions to retrogression. Can you tell me that eliminating retrogression will not benefit CP filers? If not, then what's the excuse of your bunch to not contribute?
If you still want to stick with the above "Oh it does not directly benefit me, a CP filer, because it does not massage my foot and make me feel good" rhetoric, then hey since I'm interested only in 485, I'd have to say that not a single cent of my contribution should go towards anything other than 485.
If every 485 filer were to get that selfish and said that, it would leave out this small pool of CP filer contributions (if any) which does not cover the costs of even arming up for your proposed cause. Now, where do you want to go from here?

The only leeway USCIS has w.r.t EADs are the duration of the EADs and not the timing of the issue of the EAD. The fact that the EAD can be given only after the I485 is filed is governed by the INA.
Further the grant of EADs in all the eligible categories is more or less the same. And also USCIS would have initially implementecd this for a good reason and they would not have terminated it if they wouldnt have found that many companies were misusing it ......

I have several friends who were waiting for GC desparately and they thought it was the final destination. They had many reasons why to get GC and once they get, they will be free and can do / will do everything possible. But, once they got it, they settled in a permanent job. Without GC, they were working for the same client with even more pay and life was good if not better.
I was thinking the same way; because I am no different.
Oflate, I realised, I am un-necessarily worried about something which is not in my control. I realised that I am well paid, with this pay even the benefits I am not getting are compensated. Why am I worried? Should I be after GC in order to get peace of mind? I started looking it little differently. I am in this country to earn more money and live comfortably. I am already enjoying what I wanted. Then, why am I worried still? May be it is in human nature to always look for something which is not in the hands.
I still need GC for other things like Children education and get some other benefits (our education / starting business etc). I agree, but there is lot of time for that in my case. There are several people who are in the same state as me if not all. Everyone's needs are different.
I thought I will just share my ideas so that atleast some of the people will be happier.
