Mercies.... if your answer is still not answered than please call QGA and find out about us. Before spending so much time writing this post if you had gone to the resources, you would have got some questions answered.

1. In the interest of transparency, let them also publish data about monthly filings in each of the EB categories. It will reduce uncertainty further.
2. Provide separate numbers for family-based and employment-based cases in their monthly progress reports. To a large extent, this can be obviated by regularly updating the pendency figures published in Sept 09.
3. Include the CP data in the same report along with I-485 data. Becomes easier to compile the big picture and analyze it.
Now, since we dont have any academic interest in the subject,
4. Press the case for recapture of lost visas

I have been in this country for almost 10 years and I have never felt more stressed about these status issues than I did today. I even stopped working from this afternoon reading forums for similar cases, finding info here and there etc. :(
This is confusing..I have a similar situation(not paid for 2 weeks)..
When i talked to my lawyer she said that employement verification is done in I-140 and since that is approved I dont need to worry abt it for 485??

Most of the state colleges, (In my case, none of the state colleges), including under-grad and medical schools, will accept application, if you do not have GC/ US citizenship. I tried, wrote letters, but of no use.
You can apply and get admission in private college, which of course cost much more.
Also, we were not able to take any federal loans.
You may like to talk to the admissions office of the universities. Last year when my daughter was applying for college, we had to go around and talk to them. Took an appointment and explained the case.
We had asked only about admissions, resigned to the idea of paying out-of-state tuition. However, this counsellor got in touch with me, once the admission was confirmed, and suggested that I go to the bursar's office for tuition issues. And, there we got the great news that they had changed the rules in 2007, and that AOS candidates qualified for in-state tuition. Later we were able to get the same benefit for my elder daughter who was a senior in another state college.
Imagine the relief of having to pay in-state after coughing up out-of-state tuition for three years. This happened in Georgia.
So, to cut a long story short, yes you can be treated as in-state students for admission and tuition purposes. It only needs you to do some research and interacting with the offices. And of course, meeting some good persons. Incidentally, most of the counselors are great.

As long as your orig employer does not complain(which i hardly doubt anyone will do) you are fine, worst case scenario if someone does, then its not a big hurdle to cross with an able attorney's help.
Just to put your mind at ease, i have several friends(not friend-of-a-friend) who had quit at various intervals (1-2-3 months) after getting their GC's and haven't faced a single issue while in process of becoming a citizen.
In short its better to be safe than sorry so these attorneys suggest staying for atleast 180 days.
If that is the case, then why is it that all immigration attorneys are asking us to stay with our current employers citing this "Intent" thing? Are you saying that it's all smoke and no fire?

I think that people are talking about a combination of things that makes a contry attractive. Chicago is cold, but that's just one of the many live cities in the US. You have options here.

Guys thinking of moving to Canada - i have one advise. Try to work there for a short time - maybe 6 months and then see if you really want to immigrate to Canada. (Maybe as a consultant)
It is a beautiful country, no doubt. But opportunities, racial tolerance, good standard of living etc, all need to be considered while making such an important decision of one's life. Immigrating for reasons other than above is going to back-fire and a lot of lost-time and heart-breaks.
I have said this earlier and am saying it again - our home-country should rank much higher in our priorities than going to a country other than the US. I have been living in the US for a long time, worked in Canada for enough time to offer such advises.

This resulted in the DOL getting 6 years worth of applications in April 2001. These applications led to the establishment of the Backlog Elimination Centers and the PERM process. The applications filed 6 years ago are still being processed by the DOL.

I suspect there is more to your story than you are letting on. If you are 21 now, you would have been 19 in 2005 and well able to understand the consequences of becoming an illegal immigrant. Understand that, but do you really think (s)he is worried about that at this moment any more than his next board meeting with the board members and CEO. Not increasing H1B quota itself and allowing lottery for highly skilled program, go figure sends some signal that they do not care if you graduate from MIT or from an unknown university in tahiti. I filed for my ead in late september, got an rfe in mid nov, sent papers but see no change in status. how long does it take with an rfe to get ead? my 90 days are nearing and I am afraid with the holiday season coming, that I might not get in time. If you don't want a GC, why are you on this forum and making anti-GC statement. A pro-GC person would agree with this statement unequivocally.
Read my statement again and tell where I am saying anything against GC...since you said no other country is charging the immigrants for border security....I am saying US is the only country which gives millions GCs every year...so when you compare there is no comparison...
