My attorney mentioned that "Automatic Revalidation" does not apply when you travel to canada for visa renewal stamping given that the original visa has expired.

If the law is changed. All dates will be current. if it's not changed your date from 2005 means squat. There are abt 200K ppl in the line ahead of you.. no way you are getting anything this life.. maybe you can leave your PD in inheritance to your kid born in India :)

Howdy fellow Aliens,
My wife's EAD just got approved. Now I have to get her a SSN so she can start working part time. Firstly I should ask can she get a SSN provided her I-485 application is filed and she has a valid EAD ? Any idea how long it takes to get the dang SSN ? I appreciate your help as always.
EAD is for work, SSN for Tax purposes, etc. Apply for SSN, I dont think you need to wait for the actual SSN number before your wife starts working.

Also, regarding this matter, how would I set this up if I wanted a rotate transform to happen to an Image object when a context menu item is clicked; not the image itself? I have been playing around with a setup in which I cast the sender as an Image and then using two If statements to check which context menu item was clicked. I will then apply either a clockwise or counter clockwise rotate transform based on which context menu item was clicked. The problem I am running into is how to write the condition for the If statement, undoubtedly due to my lack of C# experience. The following does not work because it says "click" can only be on the left of a += or -=. Here is the code:

All EAD renewals for the applicants whose I 485 was filed before August 17, 2007 have to pay $340 as renewal fee.. No exception.. no consfusion.
If you dont send check and pay incorrect fee, more delay or chances of rejection...Hope it helps..

With out a GC, you may not get the best rate. But you sure can get a mortgage loan while in H1/EAD.

Me and my wife are planning to buy a home, we are in 485 stage and both are working and have EAD. Do you think there can be issues for getting a joint loan on EAD ? I still have my H1, but my wife never had an H1 before, so she is working on EAD. Do lenders consider EADs for mortgages ? Did you have any issues with this ?

I have heard many cases where in the dependant gets their EAD faster than the prime applicant. My guess would be that USCIS is prioritizing H4 to get the EAD faster since the prime applicant already has the H1. That does not mean you won�t get your EAD ever but it looks like it is not a higher priority.

My suggestion is don't ask for a referral for a good consulting company.
If two consultants are working through a consultancy, their own opinion might differ drastically about the same company. These desi consultancies treat everybody differently.
They do not have set standards. Even if they have some on papers, I have seen none so far who follows those.
They say we will give you 90% of your share. They meet you with smiling face and they talk very politely. And when you ask the Work Order to confirm your rate, they very conveniently change the figure and fax it over to you. This is not an assumption, I have seen it happening before my eyes.
And most of all, they do not feel any remorse or guilt at all.
So, please look for your own. Be careful. Avoid the ones who smile constantly even while chewing the biggest burger on their plate. :-)
Find an American company. They know their state laws and are afraid to commit anything against those.

I agree this crappy bill better not pass and is worse than retrogression. It is screwing everyone at the cost of giving amnesty to illegals. It is such a joke I would have never imagined that they would have the balls to do this, but I guess they are all politicians!!!

If it passes the house, conference will be piece of cake.
Our best hope is:
1. When senators return to the constituencies for the memorial day recess, they receive a LOT of negative feedback about CIR and enough number of senators change their minds and vote in -ve and bill fails to make out of the Senate. Likelihood: 10-20%.
2. House of reps votes on this CIR and defeats it. Likelihood: 40-60%.
I hope one way or another, this piece of crap fails and I happily get my GC in another 5-10 years. If it passes, I'll have to pack my bags. Amen.

nothing to worry about, it happened to me too,
I opened an SR and two weeks later my wife got FP and I didn't, I thought I'll wait for a week or two but in vain. When I gave a follow-up call I came to know that FP was scheduled at my Attorney's place (I live in west coast and I was scheduled to attend FP at ASC in East coast) and the twist is my attorney never received it.on top of it when I asked the Rep about possibility of scheduling an FP at my place she advised me to file AR-11 form, at this point it was very clear to me that Rep doesn't have a clue on what she is talking about. the very next day I was luck to get hold of nice rep who said I quote
" I don't understand why these people schedule FP at attorney�s location"
he apologized and said he will open an SR to reschedule at my location and he assured me that this time it will be at my location, which I got in couple of weeks.
Hope you will get your FP notice soon.

Hello I opened 2 SRs 4 weeks ago. Yesterday I got two notices from USCIS.
My wife got finger printing notice but my notice says that "USCIS will notify me of biometrics when the appointment is available". Its so weird. I'm the prime applicant. Anybody any ideas? My lawyer said wait for 1 month. I spoke to USCIS customer service and they said wait for next month and open another SR.
My case was filed at NSC , then went to CSC and then transferred to NSC.

I used to commute across the border from Canada to work(on h1b) between 2004 and 2006. My passport was stamped just the first time and never after that.
I've heard of this behavior at PoE especially for Mexico and Canada.. I think we need to remind and ask for stamping.. even if they say its okay...
I landed in Canada in 2004 and came back in 2 weeks... My original I-94 had expired.. but I 'd new one on my new H1 approval.. So they gave me a new I-94.. My wife's I-94 was valid.. so she didn't get a new I-94... But her passport was stamped... May be because it was first trip...
I agree with gokhale35 to provide evidence from CC... but if its older than a year.. most CC bills won't be available... lease copy may be possible... I think affidavit plus letter from employer may suffice.. But a lawyer would be your best bet anyways...
Good luck... should be resolved soon.. and you'll get GC soon...

Get your wife to use EAD (and hold off on H1 transfer) and wait for your GC card. Many congratulations to you and have a great future ahead..

since it is a personal choice, you can go-ahead with paper filing, below are the documents that you need;
Covering Letter for EAD
Filled I-765 Form
Cashier/Personal Check
Copy of I485 Receipt Notice
Copy of your Passport
Copy of your DL
Copy of your I94 obtained at POE
Copy of your H1 approval with I-94, if your I94 obtained at POE expired.
My lawyer applied for EAD along with I485; I recollect, He was mentioning that he kept I140 approval copy.
But as mentioning is it good to efile or manual filing. as i said this is the case , I have moved after filing 485 my file is at NSC , for CT direct centre is VSC and many ppl have adviced to send file to NSC as my 485 is at NSC.
