Giving an interim GC while visa number is unavailable will have the effect of bypassing the entire GC quota system. How do you want the interim card to be different from the final thing? No way that anyone in Congress will allow for their laws to be overridden through USCIS rulemaking.

This a very optimistic prediction....
i think .. most with PD of jan 2005 and earlier will get their GC ..thus in OCT VB the dates will pull back a bit..maybe mid 2004...so first qtr will be bad news for anyone with a PD after jan 2005,...but the 2nd and 3rd qtr.. the dates will be definitely be in mid 2006.

I do not think there will be any retro for EB2 India in coming 2 quarters unless there are too many new labour approvals giving chance to file AOS with later PDs or EB3 to EB2 porting.

One of my friend was so frustated with this situtation , that he even explored IT jobs in gulf countries.He was telling me IBM has big presence there & with US experience , you can get manaegerial position with almost double salary.Also its nearer from India.
Not to mention that if the offer is good and depending on the country, it is not uncommon to get a tax free salary, housing, 2 round trip tickets to one's home country for the individual and their family, in essence your major cost will likely just be food!

Also if the judge finds it unreasonable that I stayed out of CA for more than 3 years, will I be allowed to at least live in CA for the remaining duration (time remaining out of 5 years), OR I will have to leave CA immediately once the judge does not like my reasons.

If you have not met 2 in 5 yr obligation Canadian Immigration will question you but let you in. They will give you a date on which you will have a court date with Immigration judge. Then its up to judge and you. You will have to give good reason why you were out ( waiting for US GC is not a good reason ).

Citizenship is not a toll-pass.. you are taking an oath to be loyal to 1 country.. you are giving up another.. I think GC backlog is messing up with folks' heads.. the cavelier attitude abt things like citizenship etc.. :)

We applied for Canadian immigration through Buffalo, NY in December 2005. I got a letter later in February 2006 stating that the principal applicant (me) must take IELTS. Yes, I sent all the experience letters and a letter of explanation that I have enough English proficiency having stayed in the US for about 11 years, with two bachelor's degrees from a US university, many years of experience, blah-blah-blah. Apparently, that was not enough. So, you better plan on taking IELTS. :)

Yes it can be corrected at this time. You can answer the RFE yourself and explain you mistake or ask your attorney to do so. I would suggest that contact your attorney so that you can prevent any future mistakes.

The point of the thread is that many people now think that cost of american dream is greater than the opportunity, and the balance is tilting in favor of other countries. Everyone makes their own assessment. No point in getting personal about it. Just a suggestion..using phrases like "suck blood out your body" will just reduce the effect of your argument.
And Do you (canadian wanna be) have any clue that to get respected salary and position you will be forced by illiterate Canadians to have "Professional Engineering Certificates"... It will suck blood out of your body for 5 years... So just do not read "Greener Side" of Canadian Immigration... I know it may not be applicable to all but more or less most of will have to face the same music in their careers. My all Canadian friends and relatives want to be Americans.. Only some of them practically could proceed for that.. After some stage of life it becomes hard to move families.. That is the reason they are facing now to take decision and simultaneously do not want to live in Canada anymore.. If you have 101 fever it will take 1 month to have Doctor's appointment... GST.. Higher taxes.. statistically there are chances "Most of members of this forum - Canadian Wanna Be" will have less promotions and/or increments in salary eventhough they will find themselves most skilled wherever they will work. Top posts would be the dream for most of you guys unless you start your own business.. if you understand what I am trying to tell... In USA it is not that way.... Has anybody really tried to get a mortgage recently? I have been denied by 8 lenders so far simply because I don't have a green card. Most lenders have tightened their underwriting guidelines. They will give mortgages only to U.S.Citizens or somebody who is a permanent resident aka having a green card. There are very very few lenders who will give mortgages to somebody on a visa and the rates may not be very favorable.
